Our Own Origins Story

Origins of Play did not begin as a programme.

It began as a practice.

OUR VISION

A world where young leaders rediscover purpose through the origins of play.

OUR MISSION

To offer young leaders an ancestral grounding in sport as a foundation for navigating an uncertain world.
OUR STORY

A Decade of Practice. One Conviction.

Our work began in 2017 in Jordan, as Aurora for Training and Development - a youth development organisation built on a single belief: sport, when held with care, is one of the most powerful spaces for learning, belonging, and growth

Over nearly a decade, that is what we did. Boots on the ground. Working directly with young people and through sport at every level. Urban and rural communities. Public and private schools. Host communities and refugee camps. In person and virtually. Young leaders representing 60+ countries, navigating very different realities, and the teachers, coaches, and communities that surround them.

That breadth has given us something rare: a multi-layered understanding of how sport is experienced, valued, and sometimes constrained. Not from a distance. From inside.

Today, re-established as One All - UK-based social enterprise - we are doing something different with what we have learned.  Distilling a decade of practice into something transferrable. A low-lift, high-impact entry point that any organisation, whether in education, in sport, or in development, can offer the young leaders in their care.

Levels of Sport

A grounding in origin does not make us resistant to uncertainty. But it does make us better equipped to meet it.

WHO WE HAVE WORKED WITH

Trusted across sport, education, and development.

WHAT WE LEARNED

The wisdom was never lost. So, we just went back to listen.

The 'sport for development' field is full of extraordinary work. But we believe there is space to invite young people into the conversation about why it exists.

Young leaders move through multiple worlds simultaneously - school, sport, community, family. In each one, sport means something different. Is valued differently. Is used differently. A grounding in the origins of play offers a thread that connects it all.

That thread is older than any organisation or agenda and lives on in each one today. It is an ancestral understanding of why sport has always mattered, in every culture and every era, and how it has always been a tool to envision and re-envision alternative futures.

When a young leader understands that thread, something shifts. They are no longer just participating in sport. They are living it with intention. Carrying a grounding across every context they move through. And doing so with purpose.

That is what One All is built to give them.

WHAT'S IN THE NAME?

Our name carries three meanings, all true at once.

We Are All One

We are one. The One leans into the All. The individual finds its fullest meaning in the collective.

1-1 Equal Score

An equal score. A level playing field. Equality as a starting point, not a reward.

One for One

For every paid place, one free place. The 1-1 model is structural equity, built in.

WHAT ONE ALL IS

Not something new. Something remembered.

All of this experience now lives in One All - a UK-based Community Interest Company.

But One All is not an attempt to replicate, scale, or package what we have done before. It is an effort to translate what we have learned - across systems, cultures, and generations - into something any young leader, anywhere, can carry forward.

We begin with Origins of Play. A self-directed learning experience, delivered as an app, that offers young leaders the grounding, the language, and the story to understand why sport matters - to them, to their community, and to the world they are inheriting.

It is the beginning of a longer conversation. One we intend to keep building - with the young leaders who complete it, the organisations that bring it to their communities, and the partners who believe, as we do, that this generation deserves more than content. They deserve a foundation.

This is not about starting something new. It is about remembering what we already know - and using it, together, to meet what lies ahead.
